2014 Chapter Stocking

The DMTU Chapter stocking took place on Saturday, 11/8/14. We began below the mud hole and stocked down to Dismal Run. Green Spring Trout Farm delivered 200 browns in the 10" - 11" size and 10 rainbows in the 17" - 18" size. Some fish were bucketed to the mud hole and the sycamore hole. The rest were distributed throughout the lower fly stretch. We are thankful to The Sporting Gentleman for their contribution to purchase the larger fish. Also, many thanks to the Ray Neirle South Jersey Chapter for a generous donation to this stocking event.

We had a good turnout of volunteers that included: Steve Capoferrie, Sergio Dacol, Dan Foley, Rich Hall (Ray Neirle SJ Chapter), Bob Heindel (Ray Neirle SJ Chapter), Tom Millio, Rich Mooney, Jimmey Nickerson, Chuck Pulsfort, Tom Scheurman, Greg Shaffer & Dave Wharton. My apologies to anyone I may have missed.

2014 TIC Program Underway

DMTU is once again sponsoring a Trout in the Classroom (TIC) program at the Strathhaven Middle School (SHMS).  The eggs arrived on November 5th so the program is now underway.  Out TIC program is led by Marc DeJong, a former president of DMTU and teacher at SHMS.  Follow the progress of the program (and the fish) via their blog at http://www.wssd.org/Page/6226

You can learn more about TIC via the state webpage www.patroutintheclassroom.org/ and the national program webpage:  http://www.troutintheclassroom.org/

2011 DMTU Spring Trip

By Steve Capoferri

April 29th - May 1st, 2011

For the second year, members of the club spent three days fishing the limestone streams of south-central PA with guide Craig Hull of Troutgetter Flies & Guide Service.

Craig and two other guides, Tom & Rob, split the nine of us into three groups. Each group fished different streams and ponds in the area, this way no one stream got fished hard in a day. This also gave everyone a chance to fish different types of water, some rolling meadow streams, nice mountain streams and a beautiful mountain pond.
